The Stage Combat Workshop

2005_0109pics0091

In this dynamic and action packed workshop, a fully qualified and insured Fight Teacher or Fight Director teaches the techniques of unarmed combat used in theatre, film and television.

Learning outcomes:

- team work
- increased communication skills
- heightened physical awareness
- performance skills
- critical awareness

Participants in the workshop will learn how to perform punches, kicks, grabs and martial arts moves safely, whilst making keeping up the illusion of a dangerous and deadly fight.
The group is then split into partners to rehearse a full choreographed fight sequence, which they will present to everyone at the end of the session.
This workshop concludes with discussion and feedback on each others performances.

Learning combat techniques requires close contact with partners, good communication, responsiveness, and a willingness to embrace new challanges. The group can be made more overtly aware of the skills they are learning as the workshop progresses, if the client so wishes - or the experience can just be presented as a total break from normal work.
Either way, learning a choreographed fight is great fun and enormously enjoyable for all involved.
